Recent Graduates 5 ways you can reconnect with your Careers Service Written by Jenny Sloan, Careers Consultant at the Careers Service In these fast-moving and uncertain times, you may be feeling concerned about your future. In this way, itâs completely natural if you feel that you need some extra support. The Careers Service is here for you! You can access all of our staff and services online. However, 2018 and 2019 graduates who havenât connected with the Careers Service since they left University (or even while they were here donât worry, we wonât hold it against youâ¦), might not be sure where to start. Here are five ways you can reconnect with us and get the support you need. Check out our Graduate Careers Toolkit to help you get started Our Graduate Careers Toolkit (on the right corner of our graduate pages) is a great place to start. Itâs packed with useful resources on beginning to explore your options, information on where to find graduate jobs, tips from recent graduates and an overview of the support services available for you as a recent graduate. Take stock of where you are at the moment Now could be a good time to reflect on the skills and experiences you already have. Consider the range of transferable skills you have already developed and strengthened, both during and after university. Our Employability Audit can help you get started. Are you looking for graduate work in a particular sector? Have a look through our Which Career? pages to find out more about a range of industries, including lots of useful resources on what graduate recruiters are looking for in these sectors, and where to look for the latest vacancies. You can also sign up for alerts on Careerslink. Not sure where to start? We have a handy âI donât know what I want to doâ guide, with information on how to work out what you enjoy, what youâre good at, and your next steps. Book a careers guidance appointment If you would prefer to have a chat about your current situation and where you want to be (or to help you figure out where that is!), you can book a careers guidance appointment with one of our Careers Consultants. At the moment weâre offering 30 minute appointments (60 minutes if you have a disability) via Skype, Zoom and sometimes telephone. We would be more than happy to help! Get application advice via email If youâve already found a role that you want to apply for, whether thatâs a part time role, internship or graduate job, you can email us your application form, CV and/or Cover Letter to careers.info@manchester.ac.uk. One of our Application Advisors will be touch with feedback before you submit to the employer. Keep updated with latest developments The current situation is rapidly evolving and so itâs important to keep up-to-date with the latest careers news. Like our University of Manchester Careers Facebook page to stay in touch. You can also follow us on Twitter or Weibo. We regularly update our news pages and if you have any specific questions, you can always email us on careers.info@manchester.ac.uk â" weâd be happy to hear from you!
